The Senior Manager Internal Controls supports the organization in building and maintaining strong internal controls. The role drives the implementation and continuous improvement of the internal controls framework in line with regulatory requirements and standards. Acting as a trusted advisor to First and Second Line functions, the position monitors control effectiveness, supports reporting, helps coordinating audits, and leverages modern tools and AI to strengthen transparency, reliability, and governance. Your tasks will include the following activities: Promote a strong internal control culture, raising awareness of the importance of internal controls and foster a robust control environment across the organization Implement Continental’s internal controls framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and recognized standards (esp. COSO Internal Control—Integrated Framework) Manage the implementation of internal control requirements across the organization Train, advise, and support First and Second Line functions on internal controls, methodology, and practical implementation Support the monitoring and assessment of the effectiveness of the internal control system, including the planning and execution of control testings Further develop and optimize the internal controls methodology, in close collaboration with other First and Second Line functions Support managing the internal controls reporting cycle, including the preparation of management presentations and consolidated reporting Review policies, procedures, and key processes with regard to internal control design, consistency, and effectiveness Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensuring transparent communication, high‑quality documentation, and efficient audit processes
Academic degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Controlling, or comparable qualification Strong experience with internal control systems, including hands‑on application of the COSO Internal Control - Integrated Framework Strong understanding of relevant regulatory requirements and their practical implications Solid grasp of accounting, controlling, and reporting, and how internal controls enable reliable and meaningful reporting Strong project management and delivery skills Proven ability to solve problems, manage change, and drive sustainable improvements Very good knowledge of tools and applications such as Microsoft 365 (esp. Excel and Copilot), SAP S/4HANA, and GRC applications Practical experience in using and applying artificial intelligence to improve processes and decision‑making Very good German and English language skills (written and spoken) Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, able to work effectively across functions and seniority levels Sound professional judgment, including the ability to prioritize, challenge constructively, and take ownership in complex situations Applications from severely handicapped people are welcome.
