Procurement Buyer

As a Procurement Buyer, you will be a cornerstone of the Supply Chain team, driving both operational excellence and strategic growth. You will manage the direct materials supply base to ensure our manufacturing and lab operations never miss a beat. This role is perfect for a data-driven professional who thrives in an SAP S/4HANA environment and is passionate about Continuous Improvement (CI).

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchase order placement, tracking, and delivery in strict alignment with site planning and inventory requirements.
  • Provide accurate, forward-looking volume outlooks to supplier partners to facilitate robust medium and long-term capacity planning.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for order status and scheduling, collaborating closely with Logistics Specialists to resolve transit or customs issues.
  • Proactively track open orders to identify potential shortages, highlight delivery risks, and escalate critical supply issues to leadership when necessary.
  • Partner with Planning, NPI (New Product Introduction), Logistics, and Quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve supply constraints.
  • Secure optimal pricing and lead times while continuously auditing supplier performance to ensure cost-competitiveness and risk reduction.
  • Support the implementation of Sustainability & Responsibility (S&R) and supplier diversity commitments within sourcing strategies and contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure the Approved Vendor List (ASL) and ERP Master Data remain current for all assigned consumables
  • Achieve all set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets related to cost savings, delivery precision, and inventory turns.
  • Who You Are
  • A Third Level Qualification in a relevant field (Technical, Manufacturing, or Business) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating a clear understanding of budgeting/forecasting and the effects of cost savings.
  • SAP or a similar ERP system, with proficiency in logistics and procurement modules for shipment tracking, inventory control, and order management.
  • Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in negotiating with carriers, freight forwarders, and suppliers to secure cost-effective terms and competitive freight rates.
  • Experience in negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a proactive attitude towards upskilling, and a genuine desire to expand professionally.
