Category Manager – Coins & Banknotes

Coins & Banknotes is not just a category. It’s a global market built on history, scarcity, trust, and long-term value. Ancient empires. Gold with provenance. Rare mint errors. Investment-grade slabs. Pieces that carry centuries of story and serious financial weight.

It’s also a business with scale, responsibility and market cycles..

We’re looking for a senior commercial leader with strong consumer goods market experience who knows how to steer a large, growing business through both acceleration and volatility. A leader who cuts through noise, holds the ground when markets fluctuate, and creates clarity for the team.

You’ve managed larger teams and multiple direct reports before. You know how to make people feel heard while keeping them accountable. You build structure, set direction, and maintain performance even when the market has ups and downs.

What You’ll Own

Define and execute the long-term growth strategy for Coins & Banknotes

Own the P&L and steer revenue, margin, and performance with disciplined decision-making

Translate complex data into clear commercial priorities

Lead, coach, and develop a large international expert team as your direct reports

Create clarity, accountability, and stability within a growing organisation

Anticipate and respond to market trends, seasonality, and investment shifts

Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key sellers holding the ground in negotiations and commercial discussions

Strengthen the seller pipeline in close partnership with Sales

Work cross-functionally to unlock sustainable, long-term growth

What You Bring

Proven experience in consumer goods markets with deep understanding of market dynamics and cycles

Experience managing larger teams and multiple direct reports

Strong seller/supplier relationship management experience

Senior leadership presence: calm, grounded, decisive

The ability to hold the ground in commercial negotiations while maintaining long-term partnerships

Strong analytical skills and comfort owning significant P&L responsibility

The ability to cut through complexity and focus on what truly drives impact

Confidence influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation

Experience operating in dynamic, target-driven environments

Interest in coins, banknotes, history, or collecting is a plus

Our vibrant offices in Amsterdam, Paris and Lisbon are designed to inspire collaboration. Most Catawikians operate in a hybrid setup, combining office-based and remote work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office, unless a role is explicitly stated as fully remote or fully office-based.
