Principal Flute, Tapiola Sinfonietta

Join the city orchestra Tapiola Sinfonietta as the Principal Flute.

Tapiola Sinfonietta is calling for applications for a Principal Flute. The principal together with the sub-principal leads the section with courageous and visionary example in co-operation with the concertmasters and other section leaders. The principal is responsible for the flute ensemble playing and making sure the work is divided evenly among the section's players as well as maintaining soloistic preparedness. The duties also include playing the following auxiliary instruments: piccolo, alto flute, and wooden flute. Audience outreach and chamber music in smaller ensembles are a vital part of the Tapiola Sinfonietta's activities and the musician's job description.

We consider each applicant that has submitted their application on time. The selection is made after the audition has finished. The orchestra selects the musicians to the audition based on the applications and the submitted video recordings. The audition is held in the Espoo Cultural Centre's Tapiola Hall (address Kulttuuriaukio 2, 02100 Espoo) on Monday September 7, 2026 starting at 9:00 am. Tuesday September 8, 2026 is also reserved for the audition.

Working hours: 36 hours / week

This is a permanent position. The position has a 6-month probationary period.

Basic salary: 3661,04 € / month. On top of the basic salary, a compensation for recordings (5,4%) and chamber orchestra addition (at the moment 206,10 € / month) are paid according to valid local agreements as well as possible experience-based extra compensation.

Total salary is approximately between 4050 and 4384 euros per month.
