What’s the Role
The Senior Aviation Adviser is responsible for providing independent second‑line aviation safety assurance across Shell’s global operations. The role conducts high‑quality operational and technical assessments of air transport operators. Supply Chain or Logistics Management teams to oversee aviation activities, producing formal assurance reports in line with Shell Aircraft Assurance processes.
The role provides expert operational and technical aviation advice to Shell and Non-Shell Operated Ventures (NOV) to support the safe, efficient and compliant use of aircraft and aviation services. It leads joint or concurrent assessments to ensure alignment across regions and stakeholders, driving consistent and safe aviation operations globally.
The Senior Aviation Adviser supports regional Business Unit aviation management by ensuring assessment findings and safety‑critical recommendations are effectively tracked, closed out and escalated where required. The role also contributes to regional second‑line assurance planning, oversees assurance reporting and learning, supports accident and incident investigations and represents Shell in relevant external aviation and industry forums.
In addition, this role acts as Focal Point or Subject Matter Expert in designated areas. Reports Business Unit aviation risk and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support the internal management of Shell Aircraft as required.
What You’ll Be Doing
To support and implement the active management of air transport risk and the creation of value through application of aviation industry best practices and technology for benefit of Shell
Provide operational and technical aviation advice and 2nd Line assurance to Shell and Non-Shell operated Business Units, plan and coordinate aviation safety assessments; participate in air safety investigations as required
Develop, implement and support the Air Transport assurance strategy across their region as specifically tasked by the Manager Air Transport Assurance (M-AA)
Manage small team of specialist Aviation Safety Advisers
Active member of the Air Transport Assurance (AA) Leadership team responsible for shaping policy and driving continuous improvement
This position is Senior Management role within Shell representing Shell Aircraft within assigned region
What You Bring
Applicant should be professional aviation expert.
Has held or have current aircraft maintenance engineers license (EASA Part-66 Cat-B1/B2/C) or equivalent; or are/have been professional engineer with an aeronautical background
Have experience in all aspects of aircraft operation and support, as well as an understanding of the commercial and legislative aspects of aviation
With relevant extensive experience in the aviation industry and have held management positions within an aircraft operating company or equivalent military organization
Knowledge of aviation quality and safety management systems is required
Proven ability to critically assess aviation systems, operational workflows and management structures to identify inefficiencies, gaps and compliance risks
Has capacity to grow and further develop skills/technical knowledge in aviation systems /management of aviation risk. Part of global team can deliver set goals through collaboration
Skilled orator in articulating complex safety risks and compliance issues to non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders in a way that is both accessible and compelling
Has proven ability to speak or present publicly, such as during seminars/industry conferences
Has expertise in technical writing of reports related to aviation systems knowledgeable in the use of MS Office 365 tools and similar common software tools
