Job Description: Summary & Purpose of the Position The MSL/MA is a member of the affiliate medical department. He/she is a field-based professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise who is responsible for supporting, on a non-promotional basis, medical and scientific initiatives. Under the direction of the Baltic Medical Manager, the MSL/MA works in coordination with the rest of the medical unit to meet the medical department objectives. He/she participates in the identification of local opportunities, using his/her network of contacts, knowledge of assigned TA and health characteristics of the population in each area. Consequently, the MSL/MA has responsibility in the development and implementation of the scientific activities and the clinical plan. The MSL/MA will: Achieve the communication of medical and educational objectives set for the assigned products/indications, within the framework of IPSEN’s regional strategy. Develop, maintain and support professional relationships with internal and external customers (e.g., Thought Leaders [TL], Health Care Professionals [HCPs], PO’s. Facilitate informational, educational, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding IPSEN’s current pipeline therapies. Ensure that the scientific and technical needs of medical affairs and commercial teams are identified and met working closely with other IPSEN colleagues. Document, accurately and in a timely manner, the afore mentioned activities, work in compliance with applicable regulations and SOP’s. Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies Drive local medical brand strategy Provide medical brand support and medical field activities. Organise Advisory Boards when there is a clear business need. Work closely with the Market Access (MA) department to support value dossier development in health economic reimbursement submissions and negotiations and provide technical / medical support to Local Regulatory Affairs as required. Increase internal medical expertise and leadership to ensure effective knowledge exchange, engage strong partnership with commercial and MA colleagues. Assist in maintaining Medical Information and wider medical service in line with Franchise strategy and Ipsen SOPs. Ensure unsolicited medical requests second line are responded to according to applicable regulation and timelines. Assist in the development, review and approval of scientific and clinical content of relevant promotional and non-promotional materials and activities. Build and maintain durable relationships with TL’s Identify, develop and manage peer-to-peer relationships with regional and national medical experts aligned within therapeutic areas of interest and consistent with the strategy and objectives of Medical Affairs and Brand Team. Engage in ongoing scientific exchange about the science and clinical application of the assigned Disease portfolio to external stakeholders, obtain and share insights about current practice, treatment landscapes and emerging clinical and scientific data. Proactively identify potential scientific collaboration activities. Maintain medical profiling database of HCPs and TLs Current and potential sources of clinical and scientific expertise (known experts, rising stars etc.). Current and potential principal investigators, speakers. Informational needs of individual TLs/HCPs. Need for scientific information in disease area and therapy of individual TLs/HCPs. Identification and initiation of opportunities to fulfil these needs. Identify and invite TL and appropriately qualified HCP participation in Advisory Boards. Involvement with clinical research studies Support internal medical review and facilitate processing of unsolicited Investigator Sponsored Study (ISS) requests. Proactively support HCPs and Ipsen Clinical Operations Departments in evaluating potential clinical research sites and investigators for Ipsen-Sponsored Studies. Differentiate Ipsen as valued scientific partner of choice through innovative initiatives, coordinated strategy and scientific conventions. Knowledge & Experience (essential): Education: Advanced degree in life sciences (M.Sc. or Ph.D) or medical graduate (MD) Biomedical, Scientific University education ideally to post-graduate degree level -e.g. MSc, PhD, MD, PharmD Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs) Ideally proven experience and successful track record as an MSL or medical department professional in a previous company Language: excellent presentation and communication skills in any Baltic language and in English Working knowledge of the relevant Code of Practice
