The research group of Plastics and Elastomer Technology at Tampere University is looking for a master thesis worker in the field of polymer composite materials.
The research group is now looking for a master thesis worker in the area of materials science focusing on characterizing solvolyzed carbon and glass fibers recovered from composite recycling. The work will quantify mechanical property retention, and interfacial performance of the recovered fibers to enable high-value re-use in new composite systems.
Job description
Depending on the experience and interests of the successful candidate the work will be focused on the following tasks:
creation of test matrix
characterizing and analyzing recycled carbon and glass fibers
performing single fiber tensile and interfacial shear strength tests.
Comprehension (or interest) in composite materials and material characterization is appreciated.
Successful candidate needs to be a student of the Finnish universities (Tampere University, Aalto University etc.). Master thesis is expected to be completed within 6 months (full-time, or proportionally longer if part-time, subject to mutual agreement).
