On behalf of a municipality in the county of Vest-Agder in Southern Norway, we are seeking a specialist in family medicine who is looking for a stable work environment, broad clinical exposure and the opportunity to join a well-organized and supportive primary care team.
The GP office is one of several established practices in the municipality and hosts multiple list-holding doctors in a close-knit setting. The clinic is supported by experienced nurses and medical secretaries who ensure an efficient workflow, and the practice is well-equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment tools required for general practice.
You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals such as resident doctors, an infection control doctor, a municipal psychologist and the chief municipal medical officer. This provides excellent support and daily opportunities for clinical discussions, while you still work independently with your own patient list.
Primary healthcare services in the municipality include:
Regular GP scheme (list-based system)
Intermunicipal out-of-hours emergency service
Work in maternal and child health clinics / school health services
Services connected to nursing homes and long-term care centers
Municipal emergency inpatient service
Your patients and responsibilities:
You will take over an established and stable patient list of approximately 900 patients
Your list patients are prioritized, but you may also see non-listed patients if capacity allows
Allocation or change of GP lists is handled by HELFO according to national regulations
The practice has well-structured routines for patient enquiries, sampling, annual check-ups, and collaboration with other municipal health services
In addition to daytime work at the clinic, the position may include shifts at the intermunicipal out-of-hours service, located near a local hospital and staffed around the clock by nurses
