About this role

NestAI builds the adaptive operating system for modern battlefield operations. Most AI systems are built once, validated at deployment, and expected to stay sufficient after that. That assumption holds until conditions change, and in defence, they always do. Our team develops adaptive intelligence for unmanned and command systems: AI that continuously learns from operational data and adapts to changing conditions, deployed in environments where there is no internet, no GPS, and failure is not an option. NestOS, our open, modular, and interoperable platform, enables this at scale and keeps capability evolution under sovereign European control.

Founded in 2025 by Peter Sarlin, whose previous company Silo AI became Europe's largest AI acquisition, NestAI has grown to over 200 engineers and scientists and partners with leading European defence forces and industry. We're ambitious about what we're building and honest with each other. The bar is high, and so are the standards we hold ourselves to. But this is also a place built on humility, trust, and looking after each other. If that sounds like the kind of work you want to do, keep reading.

Join us as a (Senior) Forward Deployed Frontend Engineer

NestAI is building out its Forward Deployed Engineering team in Estonia, and we are looking for a (Senior) Forward Deployed Frontend Engineer to lead the team in Estonia. This is a high-stakes engineering role where software meets hardware in the field: you will turn complex telemetry, mission data, and hardware controls from our autonomous systems (UAVs and UGVs) into fast, intuitive interfaces that real operators rely on. You will work directly with clients and our FDE team in Finland, embedded close to the point of deployment rather than removed from how the product actually gets used.

What you will work on

Take technical ownership of designing, building, and deploying responsive, high-performance web applications, operational dashboards, and telemetry visualizers using modern frontend technologies (TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, HTML).

Apply industrial and interaction design principles to streamline dense data displays, reducing cognitive load for operators handling heavy, high-consequence applications in fast-paced, safety-critical environments.

Collaborate directly with field systems to integrate frontend control platforms and visualization layers with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs).

Leverage state-of-the-art AI development tools to accelerate engineering delivery cycles and rapidly prototype partner-requested features without compromising core reliability or security.

Work directly alongside partner technical teams to translate real-world operator workflows into scalable interface features, directly influencing NestAI’s core product roadmap.

What we are looking for

If your background does not match every requirement but the work resonates with you, we would encourage you to apply. How you think, learn, and take ownership matters more to us than ticking every box. Here is what we are looking for:

Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a track record building complex, high-data frontend web applications.

Experience designing and building operational dashboards or command-and-control interfaces that manage dense, real-time telemetry.

Solid grasp of industrial design principles and UI/UX patterns that simplify complex workflows and reduce cognitive friction in heavy, data-dense applications.

Experience with, or strong interest in, hardware-adjacent domains such as unmanned aerial or ground vehicles (UAVs/UGVs) or similar human-machine interaction systems.

Comfort working directly with clients and field operators to translate operational needs into interface requirements.

Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

<strong id="docs-internal-guid-fa2d11b5
