Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

About the Role

At Vitec Tietomitta, we're looking for a Chief Technology Officer to own the Engineering organization and to act as a genuine product partner within the leadership team. We look for a technology leader who works alongside our Head of Product: a CTO or (S)VP Engineering who has grown real product judgment, shipping against a real market. In our domain, technical decisions are product decisions.

Our platform is a cloud-native SaaS product (React / Next.js, Material UI, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, on Kubernetes) supporting ERP and operational workflows in the circular economy and waste management domain, where logistics, regulatory constraints, and data-intensive processes meet. Reliability and long-term maintainability matter more than short-lived feature velocity, and our automation-driven, AI-assisted workflow shifts leadership away from throughput management toward people, architecture, and the quality of fast decisions.

This is an executive role, but not a distant one: you set technical direction, share accountability for the commercial outcome, and stay close enough to the work to open a PR or be genuinely useful in a customer conversation. Knowledge of the waste and circular economy industry is welcome but not mandatory.

What You'll Own

Technology

Architecture direction across frontend, backend services, data, and the Kubernetes platform

Engineering standards: testability by design, observability, CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines), and pragmatic quality practices

Security, resilience, and data protection appropriate to regulated operational data

Technology and build-vs-buy decisions, including how AI is used in the development workflow

Organization

Leadership of the engineering organization: hiring, structure, and team topology

Developing engineering managers and tech leads into decision-makers

Executive-level communication with the CEO, leadership team, board, and key customers

Budget, vendor, and capacity planning for the te
