Civil Engineering is a new and growing part of the LUT School of Energy Systems, focusing on technology-driven growth, business transformation and infrastructure resilience.  As the team continues to develop, doctoral researchers have a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping its research activities and academic community from the beginning.

What your work will be like

The available positions cover a range of research topics within civil engineering and the sustainable built environment.

The Construction Business position explores the green and digital twin transition in the real estate and construction industry, covering topics such as data interoperability, material passports, digital twins, and data-driven decision support.

The Building Services position focuses on the sustainability and energy transformation of buildings, including demand-control, system energy efficiency, real-life energy-saving potential related to building use, and user safety and wellbeing.

The Urban Physics on Heat Waves and Air Quality position addresses computational modelling of heat and mass transfer in urban and suburban environments exposed to heat waves and air pollution, including the influence of the built environment on these phenomena.
