About the Role

Bloomreach is looking for a Financial Controller to lead financial accounting, reporting, and compliance for our Dutch entities. The successful candidate will be strategic with technical accounting expertise, strong judgement and hands-on, operationally oriented. This role will be responsible for financial accuracy, controls and governance and financial reporting for a key operating entity with strong command of US GAAP and Dutch GAAP.

You will be driving process improvement through automation and AI. You'll be the local finance owner for our Netherlands operations, working closely with global finance, controllership, and audit teams to keep our Dutch entities accurate, compliant, and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Analysis & Management Reporting:
  • Own the accounting preparation and review process for all Netherland entities, serving as the primary lead for accuracy and completeness for monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.Provide deep-dive variance analysis for key accounts including gross margin analysis, cloud computing costs, mobile communication costs, and opex.
  • Perform, review and approve journal entries, payroll expenses and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of open items.
  • Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with both US GAAP and local GAAP.
  • Serve as the in-region subject matter expert on local statutory requirements, accounting standards, multi-entity international consolidations, and taxes.
  • Partner with the centralized Global Accounting teams.
  • Audit and Tax Coordination
  • Manage all statutory audit activity for Netherland entities, including coordinating with external auditors (corporate and local), preparing audit files, and resolving queries.
  • Act as the primary lead for external audit execution for Netherland entities. Coordinate the process from initial planning and walkthroughs to finalization, ensuring a clean and timely audit cycle. Support audit requests and disclosures for consolidated audit under US GAAP.
  • Drive statutory compliance for Dutch entities.
  • Lead local tax compliance (Indirect Tax, Corporate Tax, and Transfer Pricing) and tax provision for Netherlands entities in partnership with internal tax SME and external advisors.
  • Controls, Governance & Compliance
  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks. Assess the financial impact of new regulatory requirements and assess their financial reporting impact.
  • Strengthen and maintain financial controls and governance processes. Document and improve key financial processes. Monitor compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations. Drive ongoing enhancements to the control environment to meet the requirements of a public company (IPO).
  • Cash flow and treasury
  • Manage day-to-day cash management for the Dutch entities
  • Own cash flow visibility and forecasting for the Netherlands and partner with accountants in US, Europe and APAC regions.

  • Continuous improvement
  • Lead initiatives to streamline finance processes, leveraging systems, automation and AI.
  • Champion the use of AI and automation tools to streamline accounting, reporting, and reconciliation workflows.
  • What You Bring
  • Registered Accountant (AA/RA), Registered Controller (RC), or a Master's degree in either Accounting or Controlling.
  • Have 8 or more years of relevant accounting and finance leadership experience, ideally in a US-parented multinational organization.
  • A natural curiosity to dive into the numbers, digging deep enough to understand the story behind them and explain them clearly and simply to others.
  • Deep knowledge of local accounting requirements, with the ability to bridge local statutory requirements and US GAAP reporting.
  • Practical experience managing statutory accounts, working with external auditors, and owning the full audit cycle.
  • Experience operating within a multinational company, ideally with a centralized or shared-services accounting model.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage corporate tax compliance across multiple European jurisdictions in partnership with external advisors.
  • Strong understanding of multi-currency consolidations, cash flow management, and intercompany transactions including FX considerations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across time zones and with US-based colleagues.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and a proactive approach to building scalable processes in a fast-growing environment.
