Your New Role

We are now looking for a Category Manager – Fabrication for our client in Västerås. The company develops and delivers advanced products and services to customers worldwide, supported by extensive expertise within engineering, manufacturing and technology.

As Category Manager – Fabrication, you will be responsible for category management and operational procurement activities within assigned commodities. You will play a key role in developing and executing commodity strategies, strengthening supplier relationships and driving improvements in cost, productivity and supply continuity.

The role offers a broad international network and close collaboration with suppliers, internal stakeholders and senior leadership.

You will be based in Västerås and report to the Manager of Fabrication within Global Category Management – Direct.

In this role, you will:

Act as the primary relationship owner for suppliers within assigned commodities.

Manage and segment spend into relevant sub-commodity groups.

Apply your expertise within areas such as machined components, castings, forgings and welding.

Develop and maintain commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.

Drive improvements in Total Cost of Ownership while ensuring continuity of supply and mitigating potential risks.

Execute commodity strategies through preferred supplier lists and strategic sourcing activities.

Use Power BI and other analytical tools to identify cost drivers and support cost projections.

Use data-driven insights to strengthen supplier discussions and negotiations.

Conduct regular business reviews with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Prepare and present commodity plans, risk-mitigation proposals and supplier performance analyses.

Deliver annual results against key metrics such as payment terms, on-time delivery, productivity and inflation.

Monitor industry trends, market developments and competitive offerings.
