Your opportunity
As a senior strategic rock mechanics engineer, you will have a role in preparing Garpenberg for its future as a productive, sustainable and safe mining operation. You will be part of the long-term technical services team which is working on the mid- to long-term planning and Garpenberg operations regarding both spatial extension of mining footprint and ore tonnage production increase in a way that is efficient and ensures long term stability, even at higher mining rates and greater depths. It is an excellent opportunity if you want to cement your and Garpenbergs skills in rock mechanics and strategic mine development.
Who you will work with
You will be part of a dedicated engineering team within the Long-term planning section within the Garpenberg Mine organization, reporting directly to the section manager for geology and mine planning. This section comprises of mine geology, rock mechanics, long- and mid-term planning and mine infrastructure. You will work together with our geotechnical team of 6 geotechnical engineers and technicians, where you will support more junior engineers and technicians in their development. You will also coordinate the work of external consultants working on long-term studies supporting Garpenberg’s strategic goals.
Your work will also involve interaction with consultants and other technical experts across Boliden’s operations. The Geotechnical network in the Boliden Mines is geographically distributed, but you will have regular opportunities for knowledge sharing and
