An Assistant / Associate Professor or Professor is expected to conduct and supervise scientific work, provide research-based teaching, follow developments in their field, and participate in societal interaction and international cooperation.
The Assistant / Associate Professor or Professor of Classics:
is responsible for the Department of Classics and its staff, BA, MA and post-graduate studies, and the department's societal interaction,
teaches and supervises a wide range of topics in the MA level and in the doctoral programme,
actively participates in launching research projects and developing research collaboration, as well as conducts research in the field,
pursues professional development in accordance with a career plan drawn up at the beginning of the employment (in the case of an assistant / associate professor).
We require:
According to the regulations of the University of Turku (Section 29), applicants are required to have:
a suitable doctoral degree,
the ability to conduct independent scientific research and experience in leading scientific work,
experience in international collaboration,
the ability to provide high-quality, research-based teaching,
the ability to supervise theses.
In addition, we require:
excellent proficiency in Classical Greek and Latin, along with research merit in both languages
broad expertise in ancient languages and cultures
a research profile with a focus on linguistics
the ability to serve in a supervisory role or a willingness to participate in supervisory training.
