What the job is really like
As an Aurora Guide, no two evenings are exactly the same. A typical shift starts by checking the weather, road conditions and Aurora forecast before preparing the vehicle and equipment for the tour. Depending on the conditions, you may spend several hours driving in Arctic winter conditions in search of clear skies, while constantly adapting your plans as the weather changes.
Throughout the tour, you are responsible for the entire guest experience. You will welcome international guests, answer questions, share stories about Lapland and the Northern Lights, take photos, and make sure everyone feels safe, comfortable and included. Even on evenings when the Aurora doesn't appear, it is your responsibility to create a memorable experience.
The work is physically and mentally demanding. You will spend long periods outdoors in cold, dark winter conditions, often late into the night, while remaining energetic, positive and attentive to your guests. The role requires confidence driving in winter conditions, the ability to make decisions independently and a calm approach when plans need to change at short notice.
This is not simply a job where you watch the Northern Lights. It is a customer service role with significant responsibility for your guests' safety, comfort and overall experience from the moment they step into the vehicle u
