You'll help build reliable, secure, and scalable solutions that delight our users, together with our passionate team of professionals. Our primary workplace is our Helsinki office, where we meet our colleagues regularly. When your duties allow, you can also work flexibly remotely for part of the week.

About the job

Your work will directly support the continued success of one of Finland's most recognized webstores. You will operate within a cross-competence product team responsible for delivering high-quality digital services and continuously improving customer experience. As a Principal Engineer, you will play a key role in both discovery and delivery. You contribute to shaping solutions already at the problem-definition stage, working closely with analysts, designers, and business stakeholders to frame challenges, evaluate alternatives, and assess feasibility before implementation.

You will take part in building team ownership of the technology platform and ensuring that solutions are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with S Group's architectural and information security principles. The role combines hands-on development with high-level technical leadership. You can take full technical ownership of complex areas, especially where no ready-made models exist.

In your day-to-day work, you lead from the frontlines: guiding technical decision-making, contributing to product-level discussions, mentoring engineers, and developing team practices. You collaborate closely with the Tech Lead of Sokos.fi, sharing responsibility for the technical architecture across your domain.

You will work in a cross-functional team with experts from business, design, and technology. Together, you champion customer-centricity, team autonomy, and data-informed decision-m
