We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in systemic anti-cancer therapy and the management of patients throughout the entire cancer care pathway.
About the role
As a consultant medical oncologist, you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses. The role combines outpatient clinics, inpatient care, multidisciplinary team meetings, and close collaboration with colleagues across multiple specialties.
You will play a key role in the patient journey and work closely with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, palliative care teams, oncology nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Many of the hospitals have university affiliations and active environments for research, teaching, and service development.
Typical responsibilities
Assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients with cancer
Planning and delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapies
Management of patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies
Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs)
Assessment and management of treatment-related side effects and complications
Outpatient clinics and care of hospitalised patients
Collaboration with surgical, radiology, pathology, and palliative care teams
Supervision and mentoring of resident doctors and other healthcare professionals
