Huawei 2012 Labs Finland is seeking a Camera Optical Design Engineer to join our Camera Module Hardware team in Tampere. We are a cross-functional R&D team developing next-generation camera modules for Huawei flagship smartphones, operating at the forefront of miniaturized imaging system design.

In this role, you will design and deliver high-performance optical systems for compact camera modules - from early concept to a functional prototype- working closely with optomechanical, electrical, and algorithms specialists.

Job Description: Design optical systems for miniaturized camera modules targeting flagship smartphone performance requirements

Execute optical performance analysis including MTF optimization, tolerance analysis, and desensitization

Translate optical designs into manufacturable solutions in close collaboration with globally distributed, multidisciplinary partner teams

Analyze metrology reports and drive corrective design actions based on measurement results

Research emerging optical technologies and assess their applicability to next-generation camera module designs

Qualifications and detailed requirements: MSc or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or other relevant field

Hands-on experience with lens design for Consumer Electronics imaging products, preferably with smartphones

Proficiency with lens design and ray tracing tools (e.g., Ansys Zemax OpticStudio, CodeV)

Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience for high-volume production preferable

Experienced with Lens Design Optimization for AF/OIS actuators

Working knowledge of lens-sensor integration constraints (CRA matching to sensor micro-lens array, BFL/FFL, packaging envelope)

Experienced with miniaturization techniques applied to imaging optics (e.g., folded optics, periscope architectures)

Proficiency in simulation and optimization techniques (e.g., desensitization, tolerancing, stray light analysis)
