About this role

At Axis Communications we have delivered several groundbreaking products and look forward to pioneering many more. We are now looking to strengthen our System Products Recorder team with an Embedded Software Engineer & Team Lead at our HQ in Lund, Sweden.

Your future team

The System Products Recorder team develops software for new Linux Network Recorders and storage features in our user-space Linux platform, AXIS OS. We're a diverse group with a wide range of skills, experiences, and backgrounds, united by a shared enthusiasm for software development and emerging technologies.

We foster a supportive, inclusive environment where collaboration and continuous learning are key. Everyone on the team is encouraged to share ideas, support one another, and grow together. Your voice matters here, and your contributions will help shape the future of our products.

What you'll do here as an Embedded Software Developer & Team Lead:

In this dual role at System Products, you combine deep technical ownership with team leadership. You take personal responsibility for the projects you work in while also steering the team's overall delivery - keeping backlogs healthy, sprints on track, and stakeholders aligned. You'll act as a bridge between engineering and the wider organization, shaping both what we build and how we build it. Development is primarily done in C, Go and Python in an embedded Linux environment, and we always keep the end-user in mind - even when our deliverables are consumed by other software.

The responsibilities of the role include:

Developing software in Linux user space.

Owning and maintaining the team backlog - prioritizing, refining, and ensuring work is well-defined and ready to execute.

Facilitating scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) and driving continuous improvement.

Coordinating delivery across internal teams and external partners, managing timelines and surfacing risks early.
