About this role

Health can’t wait . Not for symptoms to get worse. Not for a six‑month appointment. Not for a system to catch up. But that’s exactly how healthcare works today. You wait, until you can’t. Alan exists to end the wait. Health is a universal right, and we believe this right can only become real when it’s coupled with prevention. We need to stop treating health as something we repair and start treating it as something we build, every day. It’s not solely a question of willpower. It’s the healthcare system itself that needs to work for everyone, in a sustainable way. So we are building the new standard in prevention insurance. Alan is the first company that integrates insurance, prevention, and care into a single, acclaimed user experience. We are on an incredible journey to build a global leading company, with a unique culture . We already partner with 40K+ companies of all sizes, serving more than 1M+ members, and have reached €800M+ in ARR. Prevention as the new norm. That's what we're building with our team of 800+ people. If it speaks to you: we're hiring across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada. And beyond. Missions As Alan’s senior Insurance Legal Counsel, you will be a key strategic force across a diverse range of high-stakes legal and business challenges, operating with full autonomy and directly shaping Alan's regulatory positioning, competitive strategy, and growth: You will protect Alan’s competitive edge by defining our strategy on key topics like the angle we take on regulatory requirements that apply to our products and contracts, with direct impact on how we position ourselves in the market. Working from a sharp awareness of the competitive landscape in health and disability insurance, you will set our risk appetite and turn complex regulatory constraints into business advantages. You will be Alan’s legal voice in our most strategic business conversations , directly engaging with key prospects and customers, where your regulatory expertise, sharp posture and negotiation skills will unlock deals. You will own the legal response to major RFPs, define offer strategies for large accounts, and represent Alan directly in complex negotiations. You will maintain our product excellence and the protection of our members , using your expertise and experience to suggest optimal ways to meet regulatory requirements in our products, while improving our members’ experience (e.g., on pricing components, options definition, or UX design within our product, or how we respond to and manage complaints). You will own our insurance compliance posture and ensure our compliance risks are controlled : you will define how regulatory obligations translate into Alan's tools and operational processes, lead the response to unplanned inspections, and ensure our exposure is understood and managed proactively. You will identify strategic risks and report on compliance obligations to Alan's board and committees, with clarity and foresight. You will lead the response to unplanned inspections and digest the results of audits. You will oversee insurance compliance internationally in Alan’s growing markets. Your work will focus on France, yet you will also be accountable for putting in place the right foundational bricks and distributed ownership structure so compliance projects are reflected globally, to ensure a robust set-up in all of Alan’s markets. You will also lead the legal and regulatory dimensions of some of Alan’s new international expansion bets by assisting with the steps to set-up new countries (from regulatory licensing processes, to compliance plan design and implementation, strategic partnership negotiations, and insurance product building). You will develop strategies to influence regulatory evolutions and maintain productive relationships with insurance regulators in Alan’s markets, in close collaboration with regulatory affairs and public affairs teammates. You will increase Alan's legal autonomy by building internal legal frameworks, templates, and decision-making guidelines that reduce reliance on legal counsel. You will share your transversal understanding of the legal stakes for the business with your teammates to increase our overall relevance. You will make judgment calls on legal risk and arbitrate which matters require external support versus in-house handling. You will define and implement an automation roadmap within your scope, and use AI technology widely to generate efficiencies. You will work as part of the Corporate Unit, led by Marion Bergeret, where teammates from diverse backgrounds combine their skills and intelligence to overcome hurdles and anticipate Alan’s future growth. In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with Elise Toureau and Pauline Sunderwirth, Alan’s insurance legal counsels, as well as with Alan’s Business, Product and Care teams, to find the best pragmatic solutions to the questions raised and elevate the team’s overall capability.
