About this role

The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Developer to join our software team at Hitachi Energy, Grid Automation Products in Västerås.

In this role, you will work on feature enhancement and quality improvements of user-space applications running on real-time Linux systems, with especial focus on time synchronization domain, driven by industrial standards such as IEEE 1588 PTP. You will be part of a scrum team and will work closely with other software and hardware teams to ensure our mission-critical embedded systems meet stringent performance and reliability requirements. Our team operates using agile methodologies to foster collaboration, flexibility, and continuous improvement.

An important aspect of this role involves getting familiar with an existing and extensive codebase. You will work closely with experienced developers to learn and take ownership of this codebase.

Feature Development: Write, test, and maintain high-quality code for embedded systems. Create and enhance features for our products in a real-time embedded Linux setting, delivering high reliability.

Automated Testing: Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure the reliability and performance of user-space applications.

Debugging: Analyze and resolve defects in user-space applications. Troubleshoot together with teams that operate in kernel-space.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and QA teams, to deliver optimized solutions.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, optimization techniques, and system configurations.
