About this role

The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Developer to join our software team at Hitachi Energy, Grid Automation Products in Västerås.

In this role, you will focus on the development of software and firmware for IO modules in an embedded real-time environment. You will be part of a scrum team and will work closely with other software and hardware teams to ensure our mission-critical embedded systems meet stringent functionality and reliability requirements. Our team operates using agile methodologies to foster collaboration, flexibility, and continuous improvement.

How you’ll make an impact

Firmware development: Write, test and maintain hardware-close optimized firmware in FreeRTOS to run in the microcontrollers of our products’ IO modules.

Software development: Write, test, and maintain high-quality code in our products’ main CPU in embedded Linux to configure, supervise and interact with the IO modules.

Automated Testing: Create and update automated tests to verify firmware and software quality for IO modules.

Debugging: Diagnose and resolve performance issues and bugs in user-space applications.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and QA teams, to deliver optimized solutions.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, optimization techniques, and system configurations.

Your background

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Proven experience with hardware-close software development on embedded systems and concurrent real-time operating systems (RTOS).

Proficiency in C/C++ programming.

Experienced in ethernet and CAN communication in embedded systems

Passion for software development, excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
