How you will create an impact

This role will be responsible for both AIG UK’s and Talbot’s delivery and execution of the Claims strategy. This will include claims management and outcomes, total cost of claim, data, digital and GenAI initiatives and alignment with key stakeholders, control of the claims budget as well as acquisition, development and retention of talent.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Senior point of contact for claims for internal UK stakeholders, committees and functions (e.g., CEOs, HR, FP&A, Distribution, Underwriting)

Representing the UK and Talbot claims organisations on the International Claims Leadership team and supporting the International Chief Claims Officer with driving our broader strategic aims.

Lead delivery of the Claims strategy in AIG UK and Talbot through initiatives that are aligned with Global/International claims, as well as AIG UK and Talbot  business plans and priorities.

Responsible for leading and managing the AIG UK and Talbot claims team.

Responsible for effective delegation of Claim Authorities to AIG UK and Talbot in accordance with the Global/International Framework.

Optimising the  operational, technical and quality performance of the AIG UK and Talbot claims functions (including through analysis of portfolio level data and metrics) and implementing corrective and/ or improvement actions where appropriate.

Working with the International and Global Technical Claims leadership on various strategies, including large loss management, claims trend data analysis and implementation of data, digital and Gen AI initiatives.

Responsibility for the expansion of Claims by AIG Assist to AIG UK and implementation and execution of Claims by AIG Assist within AIG UK.

Managing direct claims expense for AIG UK and Talbot within budget and ensuring that ALAE is monitored and controlled effectively.

Oversee the implementation of business plans across AIG UK and Talbot and ensure that agreed to targets and priorities are met.

Lead cross functional collaboration efforts across the business, including ensuring that claims actively support growth and efficiency priorities within the wider business.

Responsibility for workforce planning and identifying the skills needed to deliver the short and long-term objectives of the business.

Ensure AIG UK and Talbot have a strong reputation for Claims excellence and service delivery in the marketplace.

Represent AIG UK’s and Talbot’s interests with key customers and brokers and take responsibility for developing and delivering the claims value proposition.

Develop tools and strategies, in collaboration with HR, to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams, including succession planning, learning and development and talent management.

Ensure that UK claims is operating within appropriate regulatory framework boundaries at all times (given regulatory responsibilities, a strong understanding of the regulatory and legal environment in the UK and Lloyd’s is preferred).

Adhere to and embed risk policies, Statement of Operating Standards and the relevant policies, audits, controls and ERM procedures.

Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity and inclusion.

What you’ll need to succeed

The successful candidate will possess proven people management and leadership skills and an ability to influence and manage a broad range of stakeholders and work collaboratively in a matrix structure across a wide range of geographies and functions. You will need to demonstrate an ability to both lead and build the capabilities of a driven, bright, diverse team and to drive a culture that promotes excellence, collaboration, diversity and inclusion.

In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate experience of working in a highly regulated environment (including ownership of internal control framework) and a track record of identifying, attracting, developing and retaining talent. The candidate will have an excellent grasp of technical claims handling, development of claims and identification of trends and loss causes and an ability to work with actuaries and underwriters in respect of the same. You will also need to be able to identify opportunities to improve process and efficiency and execute on transformation projects (including data, digital and Gen AI).
