Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Engineer, you will take on a central role supporting ABB’s automation platforms used across the Energy, Process and Marine sectors. Your expertise will help keep mission‑critical systems running reliably and efficiently, and you will be a key technical partner to teams across ABB’s global organization.
In your role, you will handle complex technical challenges across the full system lifecycle from design and testing to installation, commissioning and long‑term operation. Your work will involve close day‑to‑day collaboration with local project teams, service engineers, specialists, Product Management and R&D. You will also interact directly with customers, giving you a firsthand understanding of how your work supports real industrial operations.
This is a role for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, finding the root cause of problems and working with others to find solutions. The team is located in Malmö, Sweden.
In this role, you will:
Support ABB’s front-end organizations in using ABB’s DCS systems ABB Ability™ System 800xA and Automation Extended evolution with focus on Control, I/O & Communication.
Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including evaluating problem descriptions, analyzing log files, performing remote diagnostics and reproducing issues in lab.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Product Development, and ABB front-end organizations, to address complex technical issues and improve products.
Contribute to product supportability by helping shape diagnostic tools, logging mechanisms and technical guides.
Visit customer sites occasionally to help troubleshoot complex issue
