About the Assignment
Avaron helps you find assignments that match your skills and ambitions. As a permanently employed consultant with us, you get competitive terms – combined with the variety and growth that a consulting career offers. About the Assignment You will work in an advanced HPC environment where the scheduler is central to how compute, storage, and orchestration fit together. The focus is on designing, building, and operating integrations around PBS Professional and OpenPBS so workloads run reliably, scale efficiently, and connect smoothly with surrounding platform services. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of systems engineering, automation, and platform integration. You will help shape how bare metal, virtual machines, hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, and MLOps tooling interact with the scheduler and the broader cluster platform. It is a strong opportunity if you enjoy solving deep technical challenges where performance, stability, and clean integrations have immediate impact. Job DescriptionYou will build and maintain integrations with PBS Professional and/or OpenPBS. You will develop hooks, prolog and epilog scripts, and custom scheduling logic. You will automate job lifecycle workflows from submission to execution and teardown. You will extend scheduler capabilities through APIs, CLI tooling, and event-driven integrations. You will design and manage HPC environments across bare metal, virtual machines, and hybrid cloud setups. You will integrate the scheduler with high-performance storage, network fabrics, and identity services such as LDAP, Kerberos, and RBAC. You will improve node provisioning, boot workflows, and image management. You will bridge HPC schedulers with Kubernetes, MLOps platforms, and cloud bursting workflows. You will diagnose scheduling bottlenecks, queue inefficiencies, and node failures, and tune placement, allocation, and backfill strategies. You will strengthen observability through logging, metrics, alerting, dashboards, and
