Development engineer in Lappeenranta production unit

In this position, you will be responsible for development projects at Lappeenranta production unit. You will play a key role in improving safety, process performance, and sustainability within mineral processing operations. Continuous improvement, innovation, and proactive problem-solving are essential parts of your work.

You will collaborate closely with production teams, technical experts, and also with regulatory authorities. You will also ensure that all development activities align with corporate safety standards, environmental requirements, and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in development projects related to mineral processing; crushing, screening, sorting, flotation, grinding etc.
  • Analyze process performance and identify optimization opportunities. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, recovery, and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) standards and promote a strong safety culture and support quality management systems and ensure adherence to relevant standards.
  • To be a successful Development engineer at Nordkalk you need:
  • Relevant academic background (e.g. M.Sc. in Engineering).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and understand complex development processes and systems.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented working style.
  • It is an advantage to have:
  • Work experience from production environment, especially in mining industry and mineral processing.
  • Experience from regulatory topics and cooperation with authorities. For example related to environmental permits.
  • Good IT skills (e.g. data analysis tools, process simulation software).
  • Fluency in Finnish and English.
