Responsibilities
- We are looking for a Rock Mechanics Engineer or Geologist to support short-term production planning and daily open pit operations at LKAB Svappavaara. The role is operational and field-focused, with emphasis on geotechnical safety, risk management and geology. A key part of the position is to conduct risk assessments, evaluate slope stability and provide geotechnical input to weekly and monthly mine plans.
- You will work closely with geology, planning and production teams, carrying out pit inspections, assessing slope conditions, interpreting monitoring data and delivering timely recommendations to ensure safe and efficient mining.
- At Svappavaara, the Mine Planning Department oversees both short-term and production planning for local deposits. The team includes professionals in surveying, geotechnical engineering, geology, and mine planning, working together to optimise operational performance.
- What you bring
- Academic degree in geology, mining engineering or geotechnical engineering
- Experience in open pit mine production
- Solid knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, structural geology, and hydrogeology
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written; Swedish is a plus,
