Staff Laboratory Technician

, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team working hands-on with soil and rock samples to produce accurate, reliable results that help shape the world around us.

This is an on-site role in our modern laboratory, where you’ll work closely with technicians, engineers, and team leaders. You’ll report to a Team Leader within your testing area and contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence. Your Role and Responsibilities

Perform a variety of laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, following client specifications and industry standards.

Accurately record and calculate test data using spreadsheets and data logging systems.

Ensure all testing is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards.

Collaborate with team leaders and quality engineers to ensure timely and compliant data delivery.

Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, keeping accurate records of checks and servicing.

Support the lab’s accreditation to ISO 17025 by upholding rigorous quality procedures.

Contribute to a positive QHSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) culture through active participation and awareness.

What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role

5+ GCSEs (or equivalent), ideally with English, Maths, and Science.

Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with attention to detail in data handling and documentation.

Basic IT skills, including confidence using Excel and digital data systems.

A proactive, safety-conscious mindset and willingness to learn new testing techniques.

Previous laboratory experience is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.

Full UK Working Rights without the need for sponsorship.
