As a Principal SW Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our platform by driving technical direction, promoting best practices, and combining architectural vision with hands-on development. This position is based at Sandvik’s Turku site, the main product development and manufacturing center for underground Load and Haul equipment.
About the team:
Our software development team consists of 20+ experts developing control system software for underground loaders and trucks. We are a collaborative and diverse group committed to advancing technology in the mining sector. The team works flexibly in hybrid model, and regular on-site collaboration is an essential part of the role.
The recruitment is carried out in collaboration with Armstrong Next.
Your key responsibilities include:
Lead the development of the GUI side of the platform, ensuring scalability and flexibility for future needs
Provide technical leadership by guiding the team in best practices, ensuring code quality, and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the GUI domain of the control system software
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand long-term business goals and translate them into a technical roadmap for the platform, while clearly communicating architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contribute actively to coding and implementation of key components across both GUI and machine control parts of the system
Participating in Sandvik’s SICA platform development planning to ensure that the Load and Haul software team receives the required updates for the inter-division software platform
Your background and what we value:
Strong hands-on coding experience using Qt, QML, C++, and Git. Experience with Codesys is considered a plus
Strong skills in architectural SW design for GUI
