We’re looking for a Data Lifecycle Compliance & Security Expert to join us at Telia.

I am Olegas Matiušovas, Hiring Manager, leading SAP Governance and Compliance Team within Telia Group IT. We are strengthening our expert team and are looking for a senior compliance owner who will take end-to-end responsibility for SAP data protection, information lifecycle management, and security policy compliance across our SAP landscape.

This role is critical for ensuring that SAP technologies are operated in a GDPR-compliant, secure, and well-governed manner, covering data lifecycle, archiving, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance execution.

This role will be responsible for End-to-end ownership of SAP data lifecycle compliance and security (IT scope, including roles and authorizations area), ensuring that personal and business-critical data across SAP systems is processed, retained, archived, and deleted in accordance with GDPR, internal security policies, and regulatory requirements.

The role acts as the compliance owner and subject-matter expert, working closely with SAP technical teams, security, architecture, legal/compliance stakeholders, and auditors to ensure robust, scalable, and auditable controls across on-premise and cloud SAP landscapes.

What you’ll do:

Own SAP technology GDPR compliance from an IT perspective, including interpretation of requirements and translation into technical controls.  Ensure lawful data processing, retention, blocking, deletion, and anonymization within SAP systems. Act as the primary SAP data compliance contact for audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reviews.

Own and govern data masking and scrambling solutions for non-production SAP environments. Define and/or follow policies and standards for anonymization of personal and sensitive data. Ensure secure handling of data across system copies, refreshes, and test environments.

Own the SAP Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) process and solution. Define, maintain or follow retention rules, residence periods, blocking, and deletion policies. Ensure alignment between legal requirements, business needs, and technical implementation.

Act as system owner for SAP IQ (archiving) and SAP Content Server. Ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient archiving of SAP data and documents. Govern integrations between SAP applications and archiving/content platforms.

Act as Security Policy Compliance Officer for SAP platforms. Ensure SAP systems comply with internal security policies, control frameworks, and standards. Drive remediation of compliance gaps and deviations.

Own and execute systems access reviews as per company GRC controls.

Control and oversee Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) execution for SAP systems. Ensure DR procedures are tested, documented, and auditable. Coordinate with SAP technology and other teams.

Support PI Planning activities with a focus on Roles & Authorizations (R&A) and compliance impacts. Provide compliance and data lifecycle input to SAP change initiatives, projects, and releases. Ensure new solutions and changes are compliant by design.

Collaborate closely with SAP architects, security, IAM, Basis, legal/compliance, and audit teams. Define standards, policies, and documentation related to SAP data lifecycle and compliance. Act as an internal expert and advisor on SAP data protection and compliance topics.

What will help you thrive in this role:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Security, Data Protection, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of hands-on experience with SAP data management, compliance, or security.

Strong practical experience with SAP ILM, data archiving, and retention concepts.

Experience with data masking and scrambling in SAP landscapes.

Solid understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements from an IT implementation perspective. Experience acting as a system owner or compliance owner for SAP platforms.

Experience supporting audits, compliance reviews, and control testing.

Excellent communication skills and fluent English.

Willingness to participate in on-call duty and critical incident support when required.
