Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Youʼll join a cross-functional, open-minded, and agile product team responsible for building and evolving Lendoʼs digital experience.Youʼll work on the scalable backend services that power the user journeys central to our platform.As a Backend Engineer, you will:
• Design, build, and optimize scalable Go microservices
• Take end-to-end ownership of the backend architecture
• Write tests and clean, maintainable code that ensures quality and reliability
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver value fast
• Identify and track key metrics to understand system performance and drive improvements
• Continuously experiment, learn, and share knowledge with your team
• Bring your ideas to life, whether through innovation days, tech talks, or new product initiativesWe seek collaborative and curious engineers who understand the whole system and proactively solve systemic issues. Our scalable backend uses Go microservices and AMQP for asynchronous messaging. We are cloud-native, leveraging Docker and Kubernetes on GCP, with continuous support from our CI/CD pipelines.
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience, including building and maintaining production systems
• Strong skills in at least one backend language, ideally Go, but we know great engineers can learn quickly
• A deep care for code quality, rigorous testing, and system scalabilitySolid hands-on experience working with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and GitHub
• Actions (or similar CI/CD systems)
• A quality mindset where teamwork, reviews, and clean code are natural to you
• Pragmatic decision-making; you understand trade-offs and how to collaborate across disciplines
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability
