Job description
We are seeking a jointly appointed postdoctoral/senior researcher (50/50%) between the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) and the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) for a fixed term position of 2,5 years, duration from 1st of June, 2026 until 31th of October, 2028. At Syke, the senior researcher's position is situated in the Circular Economy Solutions unit (Industry and value chains group). At UEF, the postdoctoral researcher's position will be hosted by the Business School at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies and attached to the membership of Innovation Management in the multidisciplinary Sustainable Resource Society Research Community. This position contributes to this research area in the Research Centre for Sustainable Circular Economy (CECE), which is one of the three research centres in the research community.
The tasks of a postdoctoral/senior researcher involve implementing a postdoctoral research project in the framework of identifying the needs for developing circular economy expertise in companies. Research tasks include writing research articles, communicating research results nationally and internationally, cooperating with researchers at Syke and UEF, developing stakeholder cooperation, preparing funding applications, and strengthening internationalization. The research may include topics such as circular economy business models and revenue models for business ecosystems, the security of supply of critical raw materials and related circular economy solutions, the predictability of regulatory guidance, the concept of sufficiency as part of the circular economy, insufficient or misdirected incentives and demand distortions such as excess demand in fast-cycling products
