At IQM, we build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankind. We design systems to tackle computational challenges beyond the practical limits of classical machines. Our work sits at the edge of science and engineering. It's complex, demanding, and deeply collaborative. We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.

The work
IQM is looking for a Quantum Engineer (Experiment) to join our Coherence team, focusing on characterizing and improving the coherence of superconducting qubits-one of the key performance drivers of quantum processors.
In this role, you will work hands-on with quantum devices, performing measurements, analyzing results, and contributing to the development of new protocols for identifying and mitigating noise mechanisms. Your work will directly support IQM's technology roadmap and improve the performance of next-generation quantum processors.
You will collaborate closely with design, fabrication, and other QPU technology teams, helping bridge experimental results with device and system improvements.
What you'll actually doCharacterize superconducting qubits and test devices using in-house measurement tools
Install devices, run experiments, and analyze measurement data
Interpret and report experimental results to stakeholders
Contribute to the development of coherence metrology methods
Support R&D and internal projects focused on improving qubit coherence
Identify noise mechanisms and contribute to strategies for performance improvement
Continuously improve measurement workflows, methodologies, and KPIs
