SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for operating machinery for dumping and emptying cages while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Dumping catch cages onto the live hang belt and monitoring the outfeed of empty cages.
Operates the track that advances the row of full cages until the next one is in place for dumping. Once sufficient space exists on the live hang belt, the operator dumps the cage on the live hanger belt by utilizing the lever that tilts the cage of birds to be dumped. The operator lowers the cage and checks for any remaining birds, and frees birds that get hung up in cages. Birds that remain in the cage are cleared with a hook and placed onto the live conveyor. Finally, the operator advances the empty cage to the outfeed conveyor and advances the next full cage into position for dumping by using the appropriate lever Operates take-away track and positions empty cage for pick up. The operator must also close any cage doors that are not closed by the door closer. Tyson Team Members are required to follow proper hygiene practices.
Requirements
- Must be able to perform all job duties to standard within 15 days
- Must have flexibility to work where and when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and always adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders.
- Must be willing to push, pull, carry, and/or lift 40+ pounds for some positions.
- Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments, reach above shoulder level.
- Be willing to stand 8- 10 hours a day.
- Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.
- Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator’s license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary
- Rehiring Criteria:
- Applicant must not have worked for Tyson more than a total of 3 times prior. Applicants must also have completed at least 365 days since their last employment with Tyson.
- 6 Months of Machine Operator Experience. Can be a combination of experience from multiple employers. Prefer mechanical experience.
