The Unit of Administrative Studies (UoAS) at the Faculty of Management and Business is the largest research unit in the field of administrative sciences in Finland. The unit's core areas of research and education include public administration, public finance, public law, local and regional governance, as well as regional and environmental studies.

Description of the Field of the Professorship

The professorship will be placed in the Unit of Administrative Sciences within the Faculty of Management and Business, and its special field will be defined as administrative science, rescue services and crisis management. The Finnish Fire Protection Fund funds the start of the professorship and thus the areas of emphasis are defined as follows: Perspectives of administrative science and security governance: leadership, risk management, governance of organizations and networks, policy processes, preparedness planning, and knowledge-based management.

Services and steering instruments of rescue services: management of rescue operations, and management under emergency conditions.
