SumUp's Controlling function sits at the heart of our financial integrity, responsible for the accuracy, compliance, and quality of financial reporting across our global legal entities. As SumUp moves towards a pivotal stage in its growth, the team is evolving its standards: from day-to-day operational support to the kind of structured, governance-led financial reporting expected of a world-class public company. This role puts you at the centre of that shift, taking full ownership of designated legal entities, leading statutory audits, and ensuring that the financial information underpinning our most critical business decisions is consistently reliable. You'll work closely with tax, FP&A, and accounting operations teams across the business, reporting into the Global Head of Controlling.

Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of designated legal entities — leading statutory audits, managing balance sheet health checks, and ensuring ongoing reporting compliance
- Lead and coordinate the month-end and annual closing process for your assigned entities, with a particular focus on complex and high-judgement areas such as transfer pricing and chargebacks
- Critically review accounting entries and reconciliations, identifying material risks and driving resolution in partnership with accounting operations
- Work closely with the tax team to define entity scope and transfer pricing logic, applying a deep understanding of cost centre dynamics to flag re-invoicing needs or methodology changes
- Prepare and deliver reporting on legal entity performance and jurisdictional requirements, contributing to the quality of financial information across the group
- You'll be great for this role if…
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS and local GAAP), with hands-on experience managing statutory compliance for legal entities end-to-end
- Strong analytical ability to dissect complex accounting challenges, identify root causes, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders — including tax, FP&A, and operations — in a structured and solutions-focused way
- Comfort working across multiple entities simultaneously, with excellent prioritisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines without losing quality
- A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), or demonstrable experience working at an equivalent level of technical depth
