About this role

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Consumer Business Development team at Coinbase is focused on maximizing the value that Coinbase generates from its partner relationships. These relationships are critical to the health and growth of Coinbase's largest and most important business. Within the team, there are verticals that focus on payments, financial services, mobile and growth, and brand partnerships. This role will sit within the financial and international expansion vertical, working closely with the consumer product group and regional leadership to establish and manage the company's most strategic financial institution and international expansion partnerships across the EU and UK markets. In some cases, the deals are first-of-a-kind as we navigate diverse regulatory landscapes and market entry strategies, and in others the deal types are more well-established and the team is focused on optimizing and scaling processes. Each vertical team works in support of the shared objectives developed by the product org, overseeing successful launches, driving performance, and renegotiating terms for existing deals.

Coinbase is seeking a high-performing and dynamic individual to support our consumer partnerships as a Senior Associate, Business Development – Financial & International Expansion. This person will manage and develop Coinbase's strategic financial relationships and international expansion partnerships across Europe and the United Kingdom.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

Lead the identification, evaluation, and development of new trading, banking, payments, and financial services partnerships to support Coinbase's expansion across European markets.

Set and align on shared partnership milestones and KPIs, facilitating approval processes, go-to-market strategies, and resolving any issues or roadblocks with regional partners and regulators.

Manage end-to-end partnership execution, from market analysis and strategy development to contract negotiation and implementation, ensuring timely and efficient use of all partnership assets.

Partner with cross-functional teams including marketing, legal, compliance, and product to ensure successful regional launches and ongoing partnership success, offering strategic recommendations based on local market trends, regulatory developments, and performance data.

Navigate complex regulatory environments across multiple EU jurisdictions and the UK, ensuring partnerships are structured to meet local compliance requirements (e.g., MiCA, FCA regulations, PSD2).

Anticipate challenges unique to international expansion, proactively address issues, and drive solutions to ensure smooth partner operations and mitigate any risks that may arise.

Build and maintain a deep understanding of the EU/UK financial services landscape, including emerging fintech trends, competitive dynamics, and partnership opportunities.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

5+ years of experience across strategic deal-oriented roles with global exposure. Examples include: business development, corporate development, new market expansion, go-to-market strategy and partnerships
