We are seeking an R&D Innovation Manager.
Purpose of the role
The R&D Innovation Manager is responsible for driving and governing the end-to-end innovation ecosystem within R&D, combining deep technical expertise in formulation with structured innovation leadership.
The role ensures that innovation is strategically aligned, insight-driven, and efficiently executed, by:
Leading the R&D innovation process and governance model
Driving technology scouting, insights, and external partnerships
Translating upstream research into scalable innovation programs and NPD pipelines
Maintaining technical excellence and capability building within the broader formulation team
Responsibilities
- Innovation Strategy, Process & Governance
- Define, implement, and continuously improve a fit-for-purpose R&D innovation process
- Establish clear governance, roles, and decision frameworks across R&D and key stakeholders such as Marketing and Procurement
- Own stage-gate expectations for early innovation (pre-NPD), including:
- o Opportunity framing
- o Feasibility validation
- o Decision points (kill / park / progress)
- Ensure strong alignment between innovation pipeline and business strategy
- Drive portfolio management ensuring
- o Balanced R&D innovation pipeline
- o Resource prioritisation
- o Scalable project execution
- Technology Scouting & Insights (Discovery Process)
- Define and drive technology scouting priorities linked to innovation arenas
