. In this

80% field-based

role, you will act as a scientific expert, driving high-quality scientific exchange with external experts, identifying and analyzing medical needs, and generating insights that help advance patient care and therapeutic approaches. You will also support the cross-functional therapeutic area team to ensure strong collaboration and effective execution across functions.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, scientific credibility, and dedication to support our medical and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific exchange: Build and maintain peer-level relationships with key external experts, spending approximately 80% of working time in the field to support understanding of the Austrian market and clinical landscape, and to engage with the medical and scientific community in a highly credible, balanced, and objective manner.
  • Insight generation: Identify local medical practices, trends, and knowledge or evidence gaps, and share relevant insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Medical planning: Work closely with the Medical Affairs Manager to plan and implement medical and clinical activities.
  • Study support: Provide scientific support to investigators and study sites participating in AstraZeneca clinical studies or non-interventional studies (NIS).
  • Medical events: Plan and conduct advisory boards, round tables, and regional medical education events in both virtual and face-to-face formats.
  • Presentations and training: Prepare and deliver scientific presentations at external events, as well as medical training for new employees and ongoing internal education.
  • Continuous learning: Maintain and regularly update your scientific and practical knowledge through participation in conferences and training events.
  • Medical information: Respond to medical inquiries in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with Regulatory, Market Access, Diagnostics, Marketing, and other internal functions.
  • Your Profile
  • Completed degree in Medicine, Natural Sciences, or Pharmacy; a PhD is an advantage.
  • Research experience is required; prior experience in Medical Affairs is an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience or research in the cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CVRM) area, particularly in hypertension, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and diabetes, is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate scientific data effectively to different target groups.
  • Excellent presentation skills in both virtual and face-to-face settings.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent coordination skills, a high degree of independence, and a structured approach to work.
  • Openness, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Fluency in English and German is required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
