Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a high-impact team within the banking sector, working on a fund trading platform. In this role, you will own the test automation strategy and execution in a complex, backend-heavy environment, collaborating closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to drive quality and delivery speed.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, reusable test automation frameworks
- Build and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and integration layers
- Develop automation for functional, regression, and integration testing
- Execute manual and exploratory testing where automation is not optimal
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
- Prepare and manage test data, analyze results, and report defects clearly
- Automate repetitive workflows to continuously improve testing processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed quality across the full development lifecycle
Requirements
- Strong experience balancing automation and manual testing
- Proficiency in Java 21+
- Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate
- Hands-on experience with Selenium or Playwright
- Experience with JUnit / TestNG and Cucumber (or similar)
- API testing experience using REST Assured or equivalent
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
- Experience testing event-driven systems (Kafka, JMS, MQ)
- Familiarity with OpenAPI / AsyncAPI
- Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
- Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns
- Experience testing complex distributed backend systems
- Ability to design structured manual test cases and conduct exploratory testing
