The
Physical and Analytical Chemistry team
supports the design and evaluation of new candidate drugs through analysis and characterization of small molecules and New Modalities. Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped with a competitive range of LC-UV-MS, NMR and spectroscopy systems enabling us to efficiently support drug discovery programs at various stages throughout the drug discovery process.
Discovery Sciences
is a function within AstraZeneca’s Biopharmaceuticals R&D unit that creates innovative, efficient solutions by transforming molecules into investigative medicines meeting the unmet needs of future patients. Our multifaceted portfolio of projects includes traditional small molecules, peptides and nucleotide-based therapies across AstraZeneca’s therapy areas.
What you’ll do?
In this hands-on laboratory role, you will apply your expertise in analytical chemistry and automation to deliver characterization data to projects and allow scientific advancement across diverse projects. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, address complex technical challenges and develop solutions to drive analytical chemistry improvement objectives at various stages of early drug discovery.
In this role, you are expected to both deliver analytical data, predominately from LC-UV-MS. Improve current workflows in collaboration with colleagues and other teams. Driving both scientific and operational perspective. You should have a good working knowledge of the field of analytical science, encompassing the technical and equipment knowledge and understanding of data requirements to support synthetic chemistry.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Provide analytical expertise by delivering analytical LC-UV-MS data to projects with established applications, when needed perform analytical method development, instrument troubleshooting and workflow optimisation.
Assess new digital and technology innovations for analytical chemistry both in collaboration with local teams to develop analytical and lab automation workflows
Contribute to and support FAIR data strategies and data foundations for machine learning applications
Support positioning and integration of analytical chemistry in automated workflows, both robotic and digital, by expert insights in automation workflows and local data protocols (walk-up analytics, high through put applications and including advanced automation for data processing and decision making)
