Role summary:
The DSE Local Lead – [Country/Cluster] operationalizes the V&I Medical Modernization (MM) strategy locally across applicable therapeutic areas and drives regional digital scientific engagement for one or more Therapeutic Areas (TA) across MER. The role builds and engages the TA-specific digital Scientific Leader (SL) roster in close alignment with the Country Medical Advisors of that TA, executes data-driven, omnichannel scientific engagement projects, and measures impact using Veeva CRM/VVMC and analytics dashboards in collaboration with the Medical Modernization Center of Excellence. The DSE Local Lead adapts global/regional scientific content for local use in compliance with policy and SOPs (e.g. adds country specific disclaimers where needed), decides with the Country Medical Advisors where to use the content, enables country medical teams to transition to omnichannel engagement of priority SLs/KDMs, provides guidance and support to help local medical Teams mastering capabilities required, and feeds insights and results to the MER DSE Lead to inform scaling decisions.
Your collaborators at a regional level will be colleagues from the Regional Value & Implementation Team (RVIT), the Medical Modernization Center of Excellence, Global Medical Value Capabilities (GMVC) Hub, Analytics Center of Excellence, Cross Functional collaborators in Digital & Data Analytics and IT team, the Medical-Legal Review Team, Legal, and Compliance. At a country level, you will partner with the local Medical Affairs Team, Digital and IT teams, Commercial Business Unit colleagues, and legal/compliance experts to ensure successful execution of the planned activities.
As a member of the DSE team you will enable bidirectional communication between the region and cluster/country, share and scale best practices, and modernize the way medical affairs teams work in your cluster/country and in the region. You will communicate, influence and inspire others to drive MM efforts and transformational change within medical affairs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to achieve long term success.
Lastly, you will be critical in our change management efforts by communicating and supporting new ways of working, and inspiring others to adopt innovative ways of working as we shape and transform our V&I engagement strategy.
Regional Responsibilities:
Working closely with the above Global and Regional functions you will:
Implement the digital scientific engagement plans for a specific TA in alignment with the V&I Global Medical Modernization (MM) vision and strategy
establish a “digital SL roster” for your TA(s) across all the MER markets and work with Country Medical Advisors to get it endorsed
Coordinate data-driven engagements with SLs across MER using planned and approved proactive scientific communications on products and disease awareness created by the Global Scientific and Value Content (GSVC) team;
complement GSVC materials with regionally developed scientific materials to pursue MER regional V&I goals
ensure Medical Advisors are informed and help select the digital scientific engagement materials that are used and include digital scientific engagement in their local country medical affairs plans
utilize and analyse existing KPIs/metrics and define new ones if needed, build dashboards, analyse trends and recommend scale/stop/iterate decisions to MER DSE Lead & RVITs to continuously improve the breadth and quality of scientific engagements across MER
Works with the Medical Review & Legal team to ensure content is of scientific nature medically/scientifically accurate, truthful, clear, relevant, complete, scientifically balanced, non-misleading and is accompanied by appropriate context
Country Responsibilities:
lead omnichannel adoption and implement engagement in your cluster/country in line with country medical affairs plans and aligned with the Country Medical Advisors in the MER countries
act as subject matter expert who brings innovation in scientific engagement to your country/cluster aligned with the needs of the scientific community
utilize and monitor KPIs, system metrics and analyse trends to enhance decision-making on optimizing omnichannel scientific engagements
utilize regional and local data and analytics to ensure breadth and quality of engagement with the SL and KDM community in the country/cluster.
orchestrate advocacy for new channels, content personalization, medical portal, and GenAI-assisted tools where permitted and capture learnings for scale.
Required qualifications and experience
Master’s Degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, data science and/or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine with proven track record of leading omnichannel projects.
3–5 years’ experience in Medical Affairs or a relevant professional function within a multinational pharmaceutical environment or relevant industry.
Demonstrated digital savviness through experiences like implementing digital engagement or omnichannel initiatives at country or cluster level.
Familiarity with Veeva CRM or similar HCP engagement platforms and comfort working with analytics outputs.
Strong stakeholder management, project delivery and change management skills; able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
Fluent English required. Proficiency in local language(s) preferred. Based in the relevant country/cluster and eligible to work locally; no relocation offered.
Preferred qualifications and experience
Knowledge and understanding of relevant local pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
Experience leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, digital health platforms, and advanced analytics to drive innovation in medical affairs.
Experience partnering with digital data analytics teams.
Prior exposure to digitalization efforts and the (cross-country) implementation thereof.
Experience managing local vendors and coordinating cross-functional technical implementations.
