About the role

As a family medicine specialist in Norway, you will work in primary care with patients of all ages, managing a broad spectrum of general medical cases. The work includes consultations, diagnostics, treatment, follow-up, and coordination with other healthcare services.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that typically includes nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, psychologists and health secretaries. Norwegian primary care emphasizes continuity, quality, and patient-centered medicine - with realistic patient lists and predictable working hours.

Many positions are based in district municipalities, where general practitioners play a key role in the local healthcare system and are highly valued both professionally and socially.

Salary and employment models

Expected annual income ranges from €100,000 - €175,000, depending on:

Employment model (fixed salary or self-employed GP)

Municipality, patient list size, and workload

Experience and local agreements
