The opportunity

Come join Unity and play a meaningful role in our global tax team. As a Senior Tax Manager reporting to the Senior Director, Global Tax, you will lead the EMEA tax team on direct and indirect tax operations of this region, including compliance, controversy, financial reporting, process improvement, and automation.

What you'll be doing

Coordinate and review indirect and direct tax compliance work, including recurring VAT, CIT and other tax reporting of the EMEA entities

Prepare/review US GAAP tax provision calculations, including individual entity tax provisions, ASC450, FIN48 calculations, and assist with local accounting close

Drive process innovation in EMEA tax compliance operations, working closely with other members of the global tax team and greater finance organization to implement global standardized solutions and create operational efficiencies, including insourcing where appropriate

Coordinate with the broader Unity tax team on various tax projects, including Pillar Two, R&D incentives, e-invoicing, and legal entity rationalization efforts within the region

Provide strategic support in EMEA tax audits, dispute resolutions, and other controversy

Requirements

  • Degree in Economics/Accounting/Finance/Tax, Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, Tax Advisor or similar qualification
  • 7+ years indirect and direct tax experience in a Big 4 and/or a multinational company, 2+ years experience in people management
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of EMEA VAT and CIT rules, tax accounting (US GAAP and local); experience in preparing or reviewing US GAAP tax provisions and deferred tax positions; and background in tax controversy and audit defense across multiple EMEA jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements; direct experience with insourcing efforts is a strong plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain difficult tax technical concepts to a non-tax audience

  • Proven track record of balancing multiple projects, priorities and stakeholder expectations across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ability to accurately identify problems and apply efficient problem-solving skills to drive resolution
  • Superior analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgement around materiality
  • Motivated user and quick learner of technology and systems, including, but not limited to, Workday, MS Office, Google Suite, Alteryx, Onesource, AI etc.
  • Strong management skills, with the ability to develop and mentor a high-performing team
