About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Labour Relations Manager to lead labour relations and workplace compliance across Cigna Spain. This role combines strategic leadership with deep operational expertise, overseeing labour relations, health & safety, and HR advisory and support activities, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and HR Business Partners.

As the primary point of contact for the Works Council and trade unions, you will lead collective bargaining and negotiations, manage complex employee relations matters, and ensure full compliance with Spanish labour legislation and collective agreements. You will also be a key member of the HR Leadership Team for Spain, contributing to country-level HR strategy and decision-making.

You'll Be Responsible For:

Labour Relations Strategy & Governance

Define, lead, and execute the labour relations strategy for Cigna Spain, ensuring alignment with business objectives, HR strategy, and Spanish labour legislation.

Act as the primary (or joint) point of contact for trade unions and the Works Council, leading negotiations, collective bargaining agreements, and fostering constructive, long-term relationships.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of required policy and process updates.

Advisory & Stakeholder Partnership

Advise senior management, site leadership, and HR Business Partners on complex labour relations matters, restructurings, workforce planning, and employment law implications.

Act as a strategic business partner, ensuring labour relations decisions support operational needs and long-term business objectives.

Contribute actively to HR leadership discussions and cross-functional initiatives at country level.

Employee Relations & Compliance

Lead and manage high-risk employee relations cases, including disputes, grievances, disciplinary actions, and sensitive investigations.

Ensure full compliance with labour laws, collective agreements, and internal policies.

Prepare for and lead labour audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.

Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team covering Labour Relations, Health & Safety, and HR Advisory & Support.

Ensure effective HR mailbox and case management, guaranteeing timely, accurate, and consistent responses to employee queries.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.

Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Oversee preventive measures, risk assessments, corrective actions, and collaboration with internal and external H&S stakeholders.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Law degree specializing in Employment/Labour Law or a degree in Labour Relations, Law, Business Administration, or a related field (mandatory).

Additional postgraduate education or certification in Labour Relations, Employment Law, or Human Resources is highly valued.

Strong experience in labour relations within a unionized, corporate environment.

Proven experience leading union negotiations, collective bargaining, and managing complex and high-risk employee relations cases.

Strong background in HR operations, advisory roles, and business partnering at senior level.

Experience advising senior leadership in highly regulated environments.

Skills & Competencies

Expert knowledge of Spanish labour law, collective bargaining frameworks, and regulatory compliance.

Strong negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills, particularly in high-stakes situations.

Strategic mindset with the ability to translate legal and labour relations requirements into pragmatic business solutions.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all organizational levels.

Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Native/fluent Spanish as well as fluency in English

Knowledge of European labour regulations and employment law frameworks across multiple EU countries is considered a strong asset, particularly in multinational or matrix environments.
