To work as part of a small, dynamic
team
performing Preventative and Corrective Maintenance across ScottishPower Renewables UK onshore Renewables assets .
Ensuring the execution of the preventative and corrective maintenance activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with the applicable safety, quality and technical standards
and the identification of any non -conformities and defects are reported and rectified as required.
Performing Preventative and Corrective Maintenance activities whist enacting in accordance with ‘Authorised Technician’ authorisation level of the W ind Turbine Safety Rules and
with COMP,
APSA & APSD
as minimum Authorisation Levels of the ScottishPower Renewables Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules
(5th Edition)
Assist the Senior Operational Technician and department
by developing solutions and work programmes to carry out repairs and improvements. In particular
assisting with improving Safe
Systems of Work (AWP’s) , policy documents
and Emergency Safety Improvements.
Report and manage maintenance results and Defects under own program of works. Drive to complete in current year.
Support the overall team and business move to SAP (FUSION)
What
you’ll
be doing
As an Operational Technician, you will play a key role within the SPR Electrical Network Operations (ENOps) team, contributing to the safe and efficient maintenance of assets across the SPR network. You will carry out and report on planned and corrective maintenance activities in line with the E&M 5th Edition Rules and Wind Turbine Safety Rules, ensuring full compliance with SPR’s Management System, OSHAS 18001 Safety Management System, and ISO14001 Environmental Management System. Your responsibilities will include delivering scheduled maintenance on wind turbine generators and associated electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, initially with a focus on transformer maintenance across designated turbine fleets. You will also help identify opportunities to strengthen the team’s technical capability and support improvements to operational processes.
In this role, you will ensure high standards of reporting and governance, completing and issuing technical records, checklists, and defect reports, and supporting the close-out of issues identified through inspections. You will actively supervise subcontractors to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required technical specification, while maintaining statutory and regulatory compliance. You will contribute to site performance reporting using systems such as SAP FUSION and iAuditor and play a key role in achieving operational KPIs for allocated sites. You will take responsibility for pre‑work safety assessments and will hold (or work towards) relevant authorisations under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules and Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules, enabling you to manage activities on HV assets safely and competently.
Working collaboratively with the wider ENOps team, you will support the delivery of the Asset Management Plan (AMP) and contribute to the development of site-specific management instructions, maintenance schedules, and policies. You will participate in 24-hour call‑out arrangements when required and engage in ongoing training to achieve or maintain APSD and APSP authorisations. Your proactive approach, technical insight, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement will help ensure the effective and reliable operation of SPR’s onshore wind portfolio.
What

bring
Sound knowledge of electro -mechanical generating plant and apparatus
Good working knowledge and understanding on 5th Edition Safety Rules as applicable to
Restricted SAP Duties
Good working knowledge and understanding on 4th Edition WTSR’s
Good organisational and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing working environment and demonstrate a
positive approach to change
High degree of self motivation with a flexible approach to work
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision or with a wider team
Previous Windfarm technician/supervision experience desirable
Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications as a
minimum, as well as familiarity with SCADA systems
Driving license essential
