<p>ReOrbit is looking for a Cleanliness and Contamination Control Engineer. You will develop, implement, and own the facility’s Cleanliness & Contamination Control Plan (CCCP), including cleanliness requirement specifications (CRS), procedures for all integration steps, and compliance with ISO 14644 and ECSS-Q-ST-70-01. You will oversee cleanroom monitoring, lead contamination prevention during spacecraft integration, train and certify personnel, and ensure adherence to cleanliness standards and best practices.</p><p>It's an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer. </p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li><p>Define and enforce cleanliness levels for hardware (particulate, molecular/NVR, and outgassing), personnel, tools, materials, and the cleanroom itself.</p></li><li><p>Daily/weekly monitoring and trending of the cleanroom environment: particle counters, air samplers, witness plates, swab tests, QCM (if optical/thermal-critical), humidity, and non-volatile residue (NVR) measurements.</p></li><li><p>Lead contamination prevention during all MAIT activities: satellite assembly, harness routing, payload integration, thermal vacuum prep, bake-outs, protective bagging/covers, purging, and transport packaging.</p></li><li><p>Train, certify, and audit all integration technicians and visitors on gowning hygiene, behavior, material selection, and “clean-as-you-go” practices; run regular toolbox talks and contamination-awareness drills.</p></li><li><p>Investigate any contamination events, perform root-cause analysis, write non conformance reports, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).</p></li><li><p>Manage incoming hardware inspection (supplier cleanliness verification), hardware cleaning methods qualification, and protective measures for storage/shipping.</p></li><li><p>Maintain cleanliness documentation, generate cleanliness certificates at key milestones, and support customer or regulatory audits.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with the small team on facility upkeep (HEPA filter changes, cleaning schedules, airflow mapping) and budget for monitoring consumables/equipment</p></li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Requirements</strong></p><ul><li><p>Deep knowledge of ISO 14644 series, ECSS-Q-ST-70-01 and material outgassing (ASTM E595).</p></li><li><p>Experience with contamination monitoring tools (particle counters, optical microscopes, swab kits, NVR measurement, possibly QCM or RGA).</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with bake-out processes, precision cleaning methods (IPA, plasma, CO₂ snow, etc.), and material compatibility for aerospace hardware.</p></li><li><p>Ability to read engineering drawings and work with integration teams on real-time decisions</p></li><li><p><span>Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, Physics, or related field.
