Job Description

ROV Pilot Technician 1

Join Fugro as an ROV Pilot Technician and take your career to new depths with cutting‑edge subsea technology. In this offshore ROV role, you’ll pilot, maintain, and operate Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) across a wide range of projects throughout the UK, the North Sea, wider Europe, and parts of Africa. Workscopes are varied and include renewables, oil and gas, survey support, light construction, and drill‑support operations, giving you exposure to diverse offshore environments and technical challenges. This is an opportunity to join a world‑class team and build a long‑term career in subsea engineering and ROV operations.

Your role and responsibilities

Support technical operations by assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ROV systems, associated equipment, and tooling.

Perform piloting tasks under supervision, including general ROV control and manipulator operations during subsea missions.

Assist with launch and recovery of the ROV system, ensuring safe and efficient deployment and retrieval procedures.

Prioritise safety by maintaining a proactive attitude toward Health, Safety, and the Environment, always working in line with Fugro’s safety standards and core values.

Contribute to system readiness through inventory checks, pre‑ and post‑dive inspections, and general housekeeping duties.

Collaborate effectively as part of the ROV team, communicating clearly and supporting colleagues and project personnel on‑site.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role

Previous experience working as an ROV Pilot Technician at offshore worksites.

Strong understanding of mobilisations, operations, and fault‑finding for both work‑class ROVs and eyeball ROV systems.

A nationally recognised technical or trade qualification and/or relevant vocational qualification in electrical, electronics, hydraulics, or mechanics.

Willingness and ability to work offshore for extended periods.

Willingness to work on both vessels and platforms.

Please note: due to UK Visas and Immigration requirements, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
