About the team + role

The Derivatives team is building the largest regulated exchange for perpetual markets. We’re scaling fast — expanding our product line, launching new contracts, and aiming to 10x our infrastructure to meet surging demand. We operate at the intersection of crypto, finance, and performance engineering.

As an Engineering Manager (M6), you’ll lead the team that powers our core derivatives trading services. You’ll own technical direction, execution, and talent development as we scale the platform to support the next wave of crypto finance. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone excited to work hands-on with systems that demand performance, precision, and reliability!

What you’ll do

Lead and grow a team of backend engineers responsible for Bitstamp’s core derivatives trading platform

Set the technical direction for high-performance services including order matching, risk systems, and consensus-based infrastructure

Drive project execution and ensure systems meet SLAs around low latency, data integrity, and uptime

Collaborate closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams to support market expansion and new contract listings

Foster a high-trust, inclusive team culture that prioritizes speed, accountability, and continuous improvement

What you bring

Experience managing or tech leading backend engineering teams in performance-critical environments

Deep technical background in Golang, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture (preferably AWS)

Proven ability to scale infrastructure and services to meet demanding throughput and latency requirements

Passion for mentoring engineers, setting a high technical bar, and growing top-tier teams

Clear communication skills and ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and urgency
